If you could actually use 3-D printers people would never leave their homes, 3-D printers sound awesome and frankly way too good to be true! If people could order food, clothes, and whatever else they wanted to order they would make so much money through them. Some of the drawbacks might be if so many people are ordering at the same time some might never get what they ordered on time. Any one who has a manufacturing job will most likely lose their job because there will be no need for them anymore if everything is done electronically.
The best tech tool that we have used in class is probably Edmodo. It is an easy way to communicate with teachers and classmates. It's easy to take tests and quizzes because everything is there for you to look at. It's nice to have group discussions about something that we just learned about or something that may have just been taught to us. You can easily form groups according to classes that you have by simply using a code!
Allowing social media in schools I for one think is an amazing tool to have, because instantly you need to look something up or ask someone a question and maybe you don't have their number well simple solution, go on facebook! Being able to find pictures for the Veteran's Day program was a HUGE bonus for me working on my video because I could easily go look through profiles and find them! I believe that social media in schools should be allowed because even if you block it kids will still try to get on it.
In a time where learning about anything you want is right at your fingertips is awesome. Anything that you want is easily at your disposal, say you want to learn about where your last name comes from all you have to do is Google it or look it up and they will give you so many answers! It's amazing to think that technology has changed so much over the course of time, anything that you want you have. If I think about how many resources I have available to me I can't even begin to explain how many there are and how great it is. We are in a generation that is so lucky and we don't even realize it.
I think that the 20% time project would be an awesome idea! To be able to work on something that you are passionate about during a class period I think would help students more because instead of doing something they don't want to do, now they have the chance to work on something they want, but the teacher still gets to teach a course because it only takes 20 minutes of the class! I would enjoy this because it gives you a break from learning about something you don't want to. I am really passionate about graphics and I wish i had time to do my own thing, something that I want to work on! I believe that if you gave students the time of day to do something that they want, you probably get better feed bank from them. The Google 20% Time Project would be an amazing idea for Fridays!
When talking and reading about technology it actually makes you think about the future and when I think about the future I think about college, and getting a job after college. When I read about coding it makes me very interested and it also makes me regret not taking visual basics in high school. If i would've know that visual basics is coding, I would've taken it in a heart beat! I think that it is extremely important to take technology classes because technology is one thing that will never go away, technology will always need people to fill jobs because the world is so technology based! I have taken the basic classes that I need and I wish I would've taken harder ones that will help me, but in college i plan to take courses that will help me get a degree and I plan on going into something technology based. So, yes I do believe that taking technology courses in high school will help you throughout your life.
If you were to lose a a limb, such as an arm, how would you feel? You would feel powerless right? Well, not anymore! With the technology that they have now you can actually get a robotic arm, doctors now have the power to do a brain surgery on someone with say ALS and give them the opportunity to have a robotic arm and actually be able to feel what the arm touches! When they go into surgery the put sensors on your brain that are connected to the arm that you have, whatever you are thinking goes to your arm through those sensors! So if you think about moving your arm up, down, to the left, right, it will move that way! Isn't it amazing the technology that they have now? To be able to be given a second chance in life and live the way you would normally live, but through technology! We often take for granted the things that we have, so take a chance today and think about how far we've come and what technology has done over the years, it's amazing!
The Khan Academy is a resource given to students, parents, teachers, etc. to help you learn subjects that you may be struggling in or might just need a review of! Khan Academy gives you different subjects to choose from with even more subjects included in those, for instance if i chose math, i would have the option to look at anything from kindergarten math up to calculus, statistics and pretty much anything you can imagine! I think that all students should download the app or visit the website at least once to help you study because it could make a difference in your learning techniques! The Khan Academy would be very beneficial to students because sometimes you might not understand everything the teacher is teaching you and maybe you're to afraid to ask, go to Khan Academy it will seriously help!
I believe in some ways I have taken the path of least resistance, but in some ways I have not. Some say that classes are "so simple" others say "they're so hard" I take the classes that interest me and the ones that I believe I would benefit from. I stopped my math courses after I finished Algebra 2 last year and in some ways I regret it, but in others I don't because I know that I don't want a career that involves calc or physics! I think that some people don't exactly apply all of their knowledge to what they should be applying it too! When I think about all of the classes that I have taken throughout High School I don't regret much of them because I know that now I have a better understanding of a large variety of subjects that before High School I didn't know or care about! I think that motivation is a huge factor in High School, college, etc. If you don't have the motivation then you will never know how to fully apply yourself or what your full potential is. I think that the iPads that were given to Ethiopians is an amazing thing because they never had the opportunity that other kids in say The United States have, we take for granted the education and technology that we have and I don't think that we truly understand what we have!
I think it is extremely important to keep the Christmas alive because without that people wouldn't care. Without children keeping the spirit alive I doubt that Christmas would be as important as it is now. The children at our school in the Elementary have decorated it so nicely and I wish the High School and Middle School would do that as well! The spirit of Christmas is so awesome unlike any other Holiday I believe Christmas is one of the most important! I love the spirit of it with the tree, and the decorations, the music and of course the true meaning behind Christmas! I for one love the spirit of kids at Christmas!
